Are you looking for a way to add a little extra something to that runner's high? How about running a 5K with your dog and, at the same time, supporting the American Pit Bull Foundation's Operation Sidekick?
Iron Doggy loves to support the causes of rescue organizations, but honestly this one just about takes the cake. Here's what the APBF has to say about Operation Sidekick ... "Over 22 veterans a day are lost to suicide, which is now the leading cause of death in the military, surpassing war. Over 4,000 Pit Bulls are killed every day. APBF is the first organization to bridge the gap and exclusively train rescued pit bulls as service dogs to help our veterans overcome the daily struggle of PTSD and depression."
If that sounds like your cup of tea, then look no further than the Rescue Me 5K that will be held on October 17th in Charlotte, North Carolina. Participate in this event and you might just win yourself an Iron Doggy hands-free dog leash, and if you're not in the neighborhood you can still give your endorphins a kick by registering for the race as a virtual runner (and get the t-shirt, goody bag, etc.) or donating directly to Operation Sidekick.
